Husky Oil China Ltd. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Husky Energy Inc. which is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. Husky Energy Inc. is4>The China Exploration & Exploitation team has a key technical Senior Staff Petrophysicist position available. This position will provide petrophysical support to Husky’s exploration, development, and production activities in offshore China, as well as developing additional new venture exploration opportunities in Asia Pacific Region. Job deion Competence in a wide range of petrophysical techniques and the integrated application of all petrophysical data types including wireline and while-drilling logs, core (convention and SCAL), and formation tests. Perform comprehensive petrophysical studies to support and improve reservoir acterization, working closely with geoscientists and engineers. Support exploration and development drilling, collaborating closely with subsurface, operations, and drilling. Be well-versed in editing and QC’ing log and core data. Perform good data management practices focusing on data integrity and support for the entire subsurface team & exploration team.
Key responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
1. Design optimum logging programs, considering the objective formations, fluid acteristics and budget.
2. Supervise logistics of logging, coring, testing and lab analysis; prepare the instructions for logging operations based on the logging program in well prognosis. Keep the wellsite geologist, drilling supervisor and logging engineer informed of any problems, progress and changing requirements.
3. Work with geophysicist, geologist and reservoir engineer to determine the coring point, pressure points, sampling points and DST or perforation intervals. Give inputs on lab analysis design and requirements.
4. Work with geoscientists and reservoir engineers to determine the routine and special cores analysis program, as well as to QC these lab experiences.
5. Analysis of well logs to obtain the maximum reconciliation of log data with cores, DST and geological samples etc.
6. Providing petrophysical inputs and analysis for geological model and hydrocarbon volumetric evaluations
Position will be based in Shekou, China and will report to the manager of the China Exploration & Exploitation
Qualifications:
Our ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:
A B.Sc./M.Sc. degree in the Geosciences
At least 10 years of industry experience; 10 years of Exploration and development experience, 5years offshore experience
1. Familiarity with open hole logging, casing hole and production logging.
2. Able to perform analysis on minimal data in a variety of geological environment.
3. Able to perform rigorous, comprehensive petrophysical analysis, single well or field study. Excellence in using petrophysical software such as ELAN.
4. Technical expertise in highly complex reservoir deion.
5. Excellent time management, multi-tasking and organizational skills with the ability to work with tight timelines
6. Proven team player
7. Strong command of the English language, with good oral and written communication skills
8. Candidates must be Chinese Nationals and reside in Shekou, China.
