The project is employing a modular approach to its execution which includes modules which will be assembled at the Bomesc fabrication yard in Tanggu, China by an integrated team of Bechtel, Bomesc, and Chevron staff. The work will be 100% subcontracted. Applicants for this position shall have heavy industrial (CM) module safety experience commensurate with the type of work to be undertaken and the requirements identified below. Position will be located at the module yard in an industrial port area nearby the city of Tianjin, China. This area experiences periods of poor air quality. Role Overview JOB DEION: 1. The candidate must be well versed in the Design and Build of Oil and Gas commodities with specific focus on electrical & instrumentation discipline. 2. Experience with quantity take-offs and database management would be advantageous as would a general knowledge of cost engineering. 3. Reporting to the Project Field Engineer, a solid understanding of field engineering principles and a good grounding in construction knowledge are essential. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Obtain and verify EPC Subcontractor’s installed quantities by physical on-site measurements. 2. Perform Quantity take-offs drawings to accomplish the reporting of field quantities in accordance with construction planning. 3. Prepare and maintain the established project quantity management program on-site and prepares appropriate reports. 4. Establish and maintain quantity files on each activity of work performed on the project. 5. Attend and contribute information during team meetings with regards to current/outstanding issues. 6. Assist the Project Controls team on any required in-depth quantity studies and interpretation of field quantities as applied to scheduling activities. 7. Assist in preparing quantity comparisons for Progress and Performance Reports. 8. Collaborate with other functions to enhance project success on an as needed basis defined by Project critical path schedules. 9. Interface and provide on-going technical support to support the construction team. 10. Contribute to the evaluation of allowances and contingency levels where appropriate. 11. Participate in the reconciliation of installed quantities. 12. Monitor and control progress measurement of Subcontractor(s) on site. 13. Support the Project team in reviewing and costing Project changes/variations. 14. Other, Field Engineering/progress management duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: The candidate must have either a University Degree with 5 years minimum work relevant experience, or alternatively, a minimum of 10 years work relevant experience. Job Knowledge & Requirements 1. Thorough knowledge of construction and safety activities as they relate to LNG module construction, cost and scheduling, and contract administration. 2. Strong skills in MS Office suite, including Access database, word processing, and spreadsheet and applications. Ability to develop and analyze information for studies and reports. Demonstrated skills in data reporting and entry. 3. Knowledge of the use of subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/ subcontractor’s responsibilities contained in subcontract documents. 4. Thorough knowledge of construction and safety activities as they relate to LNG module construction, cost and scheduling, and contract administration. 5. Knowledge of technical vocabularies and terminology common to construction industry. 6. Knowledge of the use of subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/ subcontractor’s responsibilities contained in subcontract documents. 7. Fluent in written and spoken English. Must be willing and able to communicate with individuals with limited or no Chinese speaking skills. Work includes field inspections and the physical ability to conduct field inspections which require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.)
